Abstract

ABSTRACT: With the increase in life expectancy of the population and the number of dependent elderly, caring for others has become increasingly common. As a way to support these elderly, It was elaborated the Statute of the Elderly, which forced the families to take care of this relative. This article aims to discuss the issue of violence against the elderly and the role of family caregivers in this context. It was concluded that public and social politcs are needed for this long-lived population, especially in order to strengthen interpersonal relationships.
