This paper discusses the poiesis and temporality in old age. We understand the poiesis from the Aristotelian idea of building itself enabled by the self-writing. In the theoretical framework, we use Ricoeur’s concepts of time and narrative, the Freudian psychoanalytic understanding of multiple psychic temporality, and the contributions of Social Gerontology. The temporal experience, the awareness of finitude and the possibility of constructing meaning are structural bases of human subjectivity and are manifested in the self-narratives. In order to further comprehension about old age, time and poiesis, we will analyze the poems of Cora Coralina.
