Abstract

In this study, we evaluate the effects of a psychoeducational intervention program, with 15 caregivers who assisted an elderly relative with Alzheimer´s disease, on their use of coping strategies, perceptions of burden and difficulties in caring. In comparison with the Control Group, the Intervention Group participants reported greater use of coping strategies, reduced burden and fewer caring difficulties. Replication studies are needed to confirm these results with larger and more heterogeneous samples.
