Abstract

The paper presents an analysis of social aging and the development of dependence in old age, it from social gerontology. For this, it critically review some of the main indicators used in regular studies in Mexico; they regard the levels shown by the various regions, but in a fragmented way. It raises, therefore, the need to deepen in such analysis, and carrying out it, from theoretical and inclusive methodological approaches, for which the lifetime is proposed.
