Abstract

This work aims to provide an analysis of old age, for gerontologists, psychologists, and professionals from different areas, taking into account the assumptions of Carl Gustav Jung 's analytical psychology and Jungian mythology, thus providing another insight about aging, expanding the study of this subject, still so unknown. The orixás are here seen as archetypal models, forms of aging, that point to the process of individuation described in the work of Jung. In the light of African mythology and analytic psychology, there is an interrelation between the themes, bringing another conception about aging.

Leonardo Tondato de Mello, Psicologia Clínica, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de SP (Núcleo de Estudos Junguianos).

Graduação em Psicologia, Universidade Paulista. Especialização em Psicoterapia Junguiana, Universidade Paulista. Mestrado em Gerontologia, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. Doutorando em Psicologia Clínica, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de SP (Núcleo de Estudos Junguianos). Tem experiência na área de Psicologia, Desenvolvimento Humano e Gerontologia, com ênfase em Psicologia Analítica.

 

Elisabeth Frohlich Mercadante, Programa de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Gerontologia/FACHS/PUC-SP e Curso de Ciências Sociais (FCS)/PUC-SP.

Graduação em Ciências Sociais, Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFP). Mestrado em Antropologia Social, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Doutorado em Ciências Sociais, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). Atualmente é Professora-Doutora da PUC-SP. Docente, Pesquisadora, Orientadora do Curso de Ciências Sociais (PUC-SP) e do Programa de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Gerontologia/FACHS/PUC-SP. Atua principalmente nos seguintes temas: Velhice, Idoso, Envelhecimento e Cultura. É uma das editoras da Revista Kairós – Gerontologia. É líder do Grupo de Pesquisa “Velhice, Espaços de Moradia, Arranjos Comunitários e Políticas Públicas”.
