Abstract

The article, after a brief reflection concerning the health status of aging individuals, elucidates on how the supplementary health system assists the aging population in Brazil, emphasizing the regulations implemented by the responsible agency related to the sector. These legal norms aim for the proper stabilization of a healthcare network based on prevention instead of only ailments treatments, alongside with an ample focus on the caregiver.  For such, risk stratification and functional capacity are highlighted as an indispensable foundation.
