Abstract

A descriptive and documentary study was carried out by means of an online search on Sinan-Net, with the objective of analyzing the reports of violence against the elderly, in Rio Grande do Sul, from 2009 to 2016. There was a growing increase of notifications of violence against the elderly in the state, especially among women and whites. Most cases of violence occurred in an urban environment, with a greater frequency of physical and psychological violence, by corporal force and threat.
