Brazil is experiencing a process of demographic transition because has been increasing the longevity of the human being, however, living longer does not necessarily mean living with more quality. In this sense, this study aimed to characterize the production of articles related to the quality of life (QoL) of the elderly, in the period from 2007 to 2017, in the databases SciELO and PePSIC. The integrative review was used to carry out the quantitative-qualitative descriptive study. We selected fourteen studies characterized in the categories: a) the subjective perception of QoL in old age; b) the various factors that influence QoL in old age; and c) the cognitive aspects that can intervene in the QoL of the elderly. It is concluded that there is a limited number of productions that articulate QoL in old age and Psychology, and that the subjective perception of the elderly is a significant way to learn about this phenomenon.
