With rapid population growth, technological advances, and new family models, many families have resorted to the Long-Term Shelter for the Elderly (ILPI), in which the elderly are in a different configuration of the family, which can lead to psychological distress or some geriatric syndrome. This article aims to discuss, based on a bibliographical review, the important role of the Psychologist in improving the quality of life of the institutionalized elderly.
