The objective of this study was to verify the physical activity level (PA) and sedentary behavior (SEDB) of elderly in the southwest city of Paraná. The PA of the 316 elderly was evaluated using the IPAQ short version and the SEDB by means of a questionnaire proposed by Mielke et al. (2012) and by two IPAQ long version questions. There was a significant association between PA and SEDB. It is concluded that the elderly of this study, regardless of sex, have risks associated with PA and SEDB levels similar to those reported in the literature. The interest of this study in justifying the condition of sedentary lifestyle was justified, due to this being a matter of concern in view of the age advancement of the elderly nowadays, and the need for more reflections on this especially with these elderly people.
