Urinary incontinence and pelvic floor function in physically active older women: comparison between different age groups

The study aimed to analyze the pelvic floor functionality of physically active elderly women with and without Urinary Incontinence, according to the age group. Through a descriptive research, with 61 elderly women (30 with UI and 31 without UI) aged between 60 and 71 years, physically active in the municipality of Santa Maria, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The elderly women with UI in the longest-lived group had worse pelvic floor functionality, in the items strength (p = 0.049) and maintained repetitions (p = 0.023), with aging being an influencing factor for UI genesis.Downloads
