Prevalence of Common Mental Disorders and their association with functional disability in the elderly

The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Common Mental Disorder (CMD) and to verify its association with functional disability in the elderly. Cross-sectional study with application of the instruments: sociodemographic, health, behavioral data, Self-Reporting Questionnaire, Katz Index and Lawton and Brody Scale. The prevalence of CMD was 37.2% and it was found to be associated with sex, health perception, nervous system disease and functional disability in BADL and IADL.
