Cognitive performance and health self-perception in institutionalized elderly: a prospective study

This study describes the profile of elderly residents in a long-term care facility and analyzes the evolution of their cognitive performance and health self-perception. This is a prospective study. The Mini-Mental State Examination and The Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey were applied. The sample presented decline in the cognitive performance (p= 0.0001) and improved the health self-perception (p= 0.0431).
