Alzheimer's disease (AD) affects millions of people worldwide and results from two major pathological hallmarks, neurofibrillary tangles and senile plaques. The latter are derived from the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) by the amyloidogenic pathway, which is avoided by the a-secretase ADAM10. This study aimed to evaluate ADAM10 levels and activity in different biological media of individuals with AD, comparing these findings with those obtained in subjects without cognitive impairment, in order to contribute to the diagnostic reinforcement of the disease.
