This article sought to identify representations about the elderly and COVID-19 in journalistic articles. Based on the Social Representations Theory, 60 reports published between January and April 2020 in the newspapers O Globo and Super Notícias were analyzed. The material was handled by the Iramuteq software. The representations found are in line with the COVID-19 approach as a potential risk for the elderly; need for health protection to avoid contamination, made possible by social distance and political issues.
