This research sought to comprehend the doubts and anxieties of a group of elders with chronic kidney disease aiming to broaden the view on how they experience their disease process and the treatment after kidney transplantation. For these elders, living with the disease still presents difficulties, including the fear of having to undergo hemodialysis again, treatment considered by them to be extremely limiting. Religion and family and social ties are an important support network. Complaints about the lack of information, the form of communication, the absence of interdisciplinarity in care are also reported.
