Correlation between Risk of Falls and Functional Capacity of Elderly in the Home Environment

This study aimed to correlate the Basic and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living with the risk of falls for the elderly in the home environment. Epidemiological study with 155 elderly. Cognitive status, dependence and functional limitation were evaluated. There is a prevalence of elderly people up to 79 years (78.7%), female (65.8%), with moderate dependence (95.5%) and partial (93.5%). It was proven that the elderly are prone to the risk of falls, as they are functionally dependent for both basic and instrumental activities.
