Abstract

This study is an account of the experience of the Elderly Person's Pastoral, in which the successful experience of more than twenty thousand community leaders in our country who work voluntarily in favor of a healthier aging is worshiped. Considering that we live in a moment of human history in which we seek the utopia of different initiatives, new life projects, new experiments, but not far from the reality lived by the elderly, a new ideal of coexistence is at stake, which includes subjectivity, individual and collective, with increasing emphasis on fraternity and solidarity.

Áurea Soares Barroso, Serviço Social. Gerontologia, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.

Doutorado em Serviço Social com estágio doutoral no Centro Português de Investigação em História e Trabalho Social (CPIHTS). Pós-doutoranda, UERN. Mestrado em Gerontologia, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. Graduação em Pedagogia, Centro Universitário UNIFAI. Atua principalmente nos seguintes temas: envelhecimento, políticas sociais, gestão pública, espaços coletivos de participação cidadã e de solidariedade.
