Abstract

This study was carried out with the institutionalized elder’s caregivers. The main objective was to know the imagination of a group of caregivers in relation to their daily lives. The imagery is understood according to Gilbert Durand's anthropology focused on the images and cultural symbols. Data were collected through the instrumental called Archetype Nine Elements Test - the AT-9, given by Yves Durand, and also through the "Listening Pedagogy". The gerontological theories of aging also based the analysis. This group showed up the prevalence of mythic-symbolic representations with synthetic structure, namely to harmonize opposites, with a mystical tendency that means a seek for union.
