Aging is accompanied by physiological disabilities, which may be delayed by physical activity. These should be prescribed from a functional assessment. The objective of this descriptive cross-sectional study was to evaluate the functionality of community-dwelling elderly people who practice regular physical activity, in the form of resistance and aerobic exercises. It was found that the elderly who perform muscle strengthening present excellent performance in functional tests, essential for adequate prescription of physical activity for this population.
