Envelhecimento em movimento: perspectivas críticas sobre mobilidade urbana e acessibilidade na América Latina
Resumo
O envelhecimento da população está remodelando as sociedades contemporâneas de maneiras profundas e desiguais. De acordo com a Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), até 2050, uma em cada seis pessoas no mundo terá mais de 65 anos. O ritmo dessa transição é particularmente acentuado no Sul Global, onde a mudança demográfica se desenrola em um contexto marcado por desigualdade urbana persistente, mercados de trabalho informais, condições precárias de moradia e infraestrutura inadequada (NU. CEPALCepal, 2022; UNUN -DESADesa, 2019) . Transporte, mobilidade e acessibilidade destacam-se como áreas críticas onde em que os desafios do envelhecimento se cruzam com as condições materiais dos territórios urbanos e suas agendas políticas. Nesse contexto, os governos locais enfrentam a tarefa urgente de (re)formular políticas públicas destinadas a melhorar a qualidade de vida e garantir o direito à cidade para as pessoas idosas.
