Ways of Financing and Maintenance of Independent Web Journalism in Brazil

The present work aims at a literature review regarding the forms of maintenance and financing of Brazilian independent web journalism. Research, scientific articles, journals and e-books were consulted, authored by Lacerda (2016), Alves and Bitar (2017), Fígaro et al. (2021), Zacariotti, Assis and Guimarães (2021), Galli (2018), Anderson, Bell and Shirky (2013). Among the main forms of financing in the country, the virtual crowdfunding stands out. It is concluded that there is a great challenge for the self-sustainability of independent vehicles and initiatives, but crowdfunding and other forms of online fundraising are strengthening independent web journalism in Brazil.
