Abstract

The first printing of these two brief texts, or fragments, according to their title (although they are not fragmented), took place on December 10, 1810, in the Berliner Abendblätter newspaper, published by Julius Eduard Hitzig and edited by Kleist himself. The newspaper had a short existence: from the 1st of October 1810 to the 30th of March 1811, the year in which Kleist died. Several texts by the author were published in it, including the famous On the puppet theater. As for the present edition, the bilingual format was adopted: first the translation in Portuguese and then the original text in German. The document in the German edition is at the citation level, that is, only for academic and non-commercial purposes, without any intention of infringing upon certain rights of the publisher or editor.
