Algumas considerações sobre o Estado e a barbárie moderna

Abstract

The present work emphasizes a few interfaces of barbarianism portrayed by the State in its modern concept, from the Armenian genocide by the Ottoman Empire and its echoes in Brazil after the coup d’état of 1964. Based on the concepts of Hannah Arendt, Tzvetan Todorov and Christophe Dejours, I elaborate a reflexion about the use of violence and torture by the State, in moments in which exception becomes a rule in itself.
