Abstract

São Paulo’s Law Academy has worked since its foundation as a laboratory where young people from political and economic elites were converted to learners of power. This article focuses on the period between the 60 and 70 decades of the XIX century, especially on one of its members: João Köpke who distinguished himself on the national scene by the competent use of students’ organizations and media, the mainstream press as well as the establishment of schools and educational press. The research results indicate that both institutional relations, as in the social groups, the Law Academy became a fertile place to intellectuals.
