Dunas, lagoas e praias - turismo e sustentabilidade (?) em Natal – RN

Abstract

The activity of tourism in Natal throughout the last two decades shows a differentiated dynamic with the services offer expansion necessary to the development and dynamization of chains associated to tourism. Since the 90’s, having as a estimative the acceptance of tourism as natural vocation of the northeast region, actions were implanted on the estate and in the market, visioning the dynamization of the “Sun and Ocean” tourism; in Natal, the exploitation includes dunes, lakes and beaches. On that, the development of tourism resulted from implantation of Parque Hoteleiro da Via Costeira, Tourism Development Program – Prodetur I and Prodetur II. Recently, stands the formulation of the Integrated Development Plan for Sustainable Tourism – PDITS that inserts the activity at the perspective of sustainability, helping a critical observation on the local activity of tourism.
