UNILA: uma Universidade Federal Brasileira para América Latina

Abstract

This article analyzes the creation of Federal University of Latin America Integration (Unila) in the context of Brazilian leadership in the process of regional integration. The research presents the project of Unila and its purposes, its first activities, and highlights education as vector of regional integration. The Unila is a Brazilian public university of international character and its mission is the cooperation and integration among Latin American people. The article demonstrates that Unila may play a role of integration through superior education and also that knowledge greatly contributes to achieve regional integration.
