This paper starts off with the principle that the experience of horror accompanies the mankind since the first social forms and through it, it’s possible to look at the human condition and situations generated by the difficult sociability. The analysis of these difficulties involves the recognition of circumstances that act over mankind and set situations of violence, impotence and suffering. From the existing relationship between art and thought, the article analyzes the horror of war. Two works of Goya were studied for this, El 3 de mayo (1814) and Nada ello dirá! (1812-1820), besides a work of Käthe Kollwitz, The mothers (1922-1923).Metrics
