Abstract

Although the matter about ethnic groups has been a traditional topic in Mexicananthropology, ethnic youth has not been the main focus in social oranthropological research. Among the reasons for this lack of concern lies the nonexistence, at least until recently, of an age period that could be recognized, understudy by the ethnic society, as differentiated between infancy and adulthood. Here I cover the recent formation and recognition of an age group that can belabeled as youth among the ethnics of displacement in Mexico City. I also askmyself about the contributions that these ethnic juvenile experiences make to theconcepts of youth in the contemporary world.
