Abstract

This article is an anthropological reflection on the subject ofborders. Initially it recoups some of the theoretical and socioculturalmeanings and contexts where they are developed. Afterdoing so, the article shows that these two sets build and reproducesocial relations which are mediated by this preliminary space, bythis kind of “no-place”, that separates and, at the same time, structures the collective life: among ethnicities, State-Nations, andinnumerable other social political and identity imbrications. Finally, the article analyses the socio-cultural situation of the triple borderof Brazil, Peru and Bolivia, showing that many nets and dynamicidentities have been formed there and that the region has been usedby and favored local groups.
