Abstract

The Evo Morales administration, although stimulated by socialmovements endowed with a considerable revolutionary potential,when adopting the strategy of accomplishment of a pretense“normal capitalism”, weakens its bases of support, at the same timethat it encourages the counter-offensive of the ruling classes. As aresult, despite its rhetorical appeal to a confrontation with theimperialism and to its strong use of symbols of ethnic connotation,the government ends up making concessions toward neoliberalprinciples.
