A Distante Harmonia: Marcel Mauss e a nação

Abstract

In this article, I take up the examination of an almost unknown aspect ofMarcel Mauss's work: this author's thesis about the nation. Beyond theintrinsic importance of the theme, analysis contributes to renewing thediscussion about a researcher that continues to offer surprises. I hope thatthe recuperation of the debate from the 1970s about Mauss's work canstimulate the study of a period marked by intense theoretical andmethodological controversies.
