Abstract

In context of hegemony of neoliberal ideas, policies and practices, in force since 1970´s across different continents, this article aims to analyze social impacts, under sociological view, of neoliberal policies in Latin American and European contexts, particularly in Brazil and Spain. The research uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis from primary data extracted from the Statistical Institutes of both countries (IBGE and INE) and secondary data from extensive literature on the subject. In other words, the text intends to articulate two dimensions, which intersect: the conceptual / ideological dimension, based on neoliberal doctrines (especially Mises, Hayek and Friedman), and the dimension of comparative socio-economic indicators and documentary sources between Brazil, in the Latin American context, and Spain, in the European context.
