Resumo

This work approaches the role of different actors - such as the school - in the questions that youths have cincerning their health, with regard to the between health and society. Different dimensions apppear in the exploration of this social representation: the diversification of the interest in health, according to age, sex and sensibility to the idea of death; the distinction between the diseases that are directly or indirectly linked to youths; the forms of communication about the dificulties of life, in that age: the role of different partners, such as the school, in the establishment of dialogue and of youths' information. Those dimensions become concrete as difficulties in social integration, in communication among the youths and between them and the family, school and companions of the same age. With regard to the school, most youths consider that is an important space to promote discussions about themes such as sexuality, health and illness. Even though the motivation for dialogue and for action exists in all the levels that work in the youths' health education - school, doctors, nurses, social workers and the family - , the author point outs that none of those partners can, isolation, succeed in promoting education, in that area. A closer co-peration between them is necessary, allowing a successful transformation concerning questions such as health and illness, in society.
