NOTAS SOBRE A MENSURAÇÃO DE POBREZA E DESIGUALDADE NO BRASIL: O QUE MUDA QUANDO MICRODADOS DE GASTO SÃO USADOS NO LUGAR DE RENDA?

A literatura recente sobre mensuração de pobreza e desigualdade tem documentado e chamado atenção para diferenças encontradas, para diversos países, na estimação de indicadores de bem-estar, quando são confrontados resultados baseados na utilização de renda corrente com aqueles utilizando gasto como base. Isso sugere ser importante investigar que conceito, renda ou gasto, é mais adequado para a análise distributiva de políticas econômicas. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo reportar, para o Brasil, evidências da existência de discrepâncias entre dados de renda e de gasto para domicílios brasileiros e a implicação disso para o cálculo de indicadores de pobreza e desigualdade.
