See/Feel Lighting Design in the Dance: Ideas on ambience and perception

Abstract
This paper presents thinking’s about lighting design in dance performances. The discussion exposes the light as the scenic information that promotes a particular ambience in dance performances. The understanding of ambience that we conduct is related with the scene configuration; the changes established among the armory of available information, been the lighting design one of them. We understand that light promotes the visual movement of the performance at a determinant way. It is between and through the lighting design that we do not just see, but we identify the performance such it. In this manner our perception is linked to the movement of light in tune with the others information of the scene. In this perspective we do not propose an hierarchy of making dances from the lighting design, we just expose how diverse are the paths to compose through these scenic information that dialogues with the reveals the public’s reaction, pepping and enhancing the camp of visual perception to the audience.
