Abstract

The present text deals with the questions of truth, certainty and ambiguity existing in the Brazilian wilderness and the dangers and paths followed by its inhabitants. Those questions are seen in the ambiguities on the images of God and the devil in the novel The Devil to Pay in the Backlands, by Guimarães Rosa.
