The article analyzes telenovela “A dona do pedaço”, produced and broadcast by Rede Globo in 2019. The objective is to identify the presence of the Bible and its symbolic power in the plot and it is assumed, hypothetically, the use of a biblical parable as a plot model proposed by the playwright. This will be done in three steps. First, the theoretical framework is constructed from the notions of sacred, symbol and myth, discussed in the light of the contributions of the phenomenology of religion. Then, the soap-opera’s plot briefly presented emphasizing the eight final episodes, in its main elements, presenting in the sense of making it available for investigation. Finally, it seeks to examine the presence of the Bible as a symbolic power and the biblical journey of the prodigal son (Lk 15, 11-32), considered in the article as a small mythical structure narrated in the form of a parable. This does not alter the structure of the soap-opera, but updates a message to viewers. It is understood that the religious experience is not limited to that which is always carried out from text recognized as sacred by institutionalized religions. But, it can happen with any narrative that presents typically religious elements.References
