Abstract

The unprecedented forced displacement of people in different parts of the world has impacted different host societies in their political, economic, social, cultural and legal aspects. On the one hand, the receiving States endeavor to improve emergency responses in a systemic manner due to the prolongation of instabilities in the countries of origin, on the other hand the potential for local integration opens up to displaced populations, when done well, have positive effects for the local development as a whole. In the search, the immediate need for income generation in the context of humanitarian emergencies often overlaps with the construction and consolidation of solid public policies that would ensure better results through the long-term integration bias, reconciling the knowledge and experiences of those who arrive to contribute effectively for the development of the host societies. To this end, institutional articulation between the public and private sectors, mediated by humanitarian agencies and with the support of the civil society, would facilitate the promotion of effective mechanisms for local integration of this population as, with access to formal work and facilitation for entrepreneurship, the local economy becomes more dynamic and corporate results even more efficient, reducing vulnerability and transforming distrust into common earnings.
