The vast environmental, social and economic effects of corporate activities in the globalized world bring to the fore the importance of international law on environmental protection and the application of ESG practices by transnational corporations. The so-called hard law, with regard to environmental and ESG issues, does not always follow the economic and social developments of the globalized economy – therefore, regulation mechanisms with voluntary adherence (soft law) are often more effective for the application of international quality standards and for the protection of diffuse interests.
