The article aims to analyze the idea of nature in the historical context of Western thought in the face of environmental knowledge. It highlights, therefore, the main periods of the history of ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary philosophy, presenting an analysis of the idea of nature in order to identify the significant elements of the “Philosophy of Nature”. We investigate the approaches that allow) analyzing the relationship between man, society and nature to understand knowledge and environmental knowledge as well as to identify the epistemological paths that can contribute to the environmental debate in Universities.Downloads
