or on the dialectics - of the subtraction - In Alain Badiou

The object of study of this article focuses on the conceptual foundations and structural dynamics of Badiou's dialectics, taking as its core the centrality of the category of subtraction. To this end, it is made an approach to Badiou's philosophical diagnosis; an inquiry into the category of rupture and its relation to the established structural order; an attempt at conceptual reconstruction of the category of event; an analysis of the internal dynamics of the dialectic itself, focused on the relation between subtraction, affirmation, and negation; and, finally, a synthetic return to the most appropriate aspects to characterize Badiou's dialectic. It is argued that the category that best defines this new dialectical structure is subtraction, because, from the primacy of affirmationism, it incorporates the dialectic between affirmation and negation, as well as it underlines its immanent, contingent, and materialistic character.
