Abstract

From Essay 7 of the book Technique, medicine and ethics, by the German philosopher Hans Jonas, we seek to think about the doctor's responsibility in the exercise of his profession, taking into account some health concepts, to counteract the strong current trend of reduce it to a mere merchandise, above all, due to the recent expansion of the uses of medicine, made possible by new technologies, which expand its primary function of healing, towards its application for aesthetic purposes; thereby increasing not only the sphere of medical activity, but, consequently, also the scope of the doctor's responsibility in his current professional practice.
