Abstract

This article examines the impact of the Master Plan on the preservation of São José de Ribamar's cultural heritage, highlighting how public policies and community participation influence this protection. The study assesses the effectiveness of the plan's guidelines in balancing urban growth with the conservation of the city's material and immaterial cultural assets. Using documentary review and case study methods, the research evaluates the integration of development needs with cultural preservation, emphasizing the role of public hearings in the plan's revision. The analysis reveals that, while the Master Plan provides a framework for sustainable development, the effectiveness in protecting cultural heritage relies on ongoing collaboration between the public authorities and the local community.
