Abstract

ABSTRACT Pharmacogenetics is the field of science that investigates polymorphisms that may be related to pharmacological therapy individual responses. Following recent developments in the field and foreseeing the possibility of clinical applicability of the findings, pharmacogenetic concepts have evolved and are currently addressed as pharmacogenomics. This review aims to present the history of pharmacogenomics in psychiatry, to discuss the main discoveries in the field and point the future perspectives of their use in clinical practice.
