Abstract

ABSTRACT A disease of the motor neuron, the Lateral Amyotrophic Sclerosis causes a fast (up to mean five years), progressive and inexorable muscular atrophy. There are several theories regarding its etiology, which is believed to be multifactorial; it's clinical presentation differs according to the patient, concerning to signs, symptoms, severity and course. The current treatment is multidisciplinary e basically palliative, with medium survival enhance. The future perspectives for the treatment are based on steam cells and growth factors.
