Abstract

Objective: To compare the knowledge the responsible ones for and/or relatives of children diagnosed with epilepsy and those children with other diagnosis have got about this disturb. Method: It was a cross-sectional clinical study that occurred through the application of the second part of Simplified Inventory of Life Quality on Children’s Epilepsy. Results: Eighty-three people have participated of the study, being 36 from the group of relatives of children with epilepsy and 47 from the group of children with other diagnosis. The fear of the tongue be swallowed during an epileptic seizure is present in 55.5% of relatives of children with epilepsy and in 61.7% of relatives of children from the other group. Conclusion: Then, health politics and education that evolve capacity and awareness concerning epilepsy are fundamental.
