Abstract

ABSTRACT This article aims to investigate, through literature review, the application of classical cytogenetic and molecular analysis in search Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). These techniques of analysis detect chromosomal abnormalities and relate to a better or worse prognosis for the patient, with possible changes to a chronic or acute phase of the disease and help guiding the therapy in a more appropriate form. Based on the errors of cell division, one can observe the highest frequency of mutation and chromosomal aberrations in cells affected.Cytogenetic data involved also have fundamental importance in gene mapping. The karyotype final is set based on studies of techniques in classical cytogenetic analysis and allows the professional evaluate the prognosis and treatment of disease through the presence of the marker of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), the Philadelphia chromosome.
