Seminomatous tumor as a differential diagnosis of acute abdomen

ABSTRACT Seminoma is the most common testicular germ-cell-tumors in adults. In spite of its frequency, seminomatous tumors affect less frequently the gastrointestinal tract, as opposed to non-seminomas. Clinical manifestations of metastatic testicular tumors in the gastrointestinal tract include intestinal obstruction, volvulus, intussusception and bleeding. Treatment is mainly surgical, and chemotherapy is indicated in some cases. This paper describes a case of an unusual manifestation of a seminomatous testicular tumor in a patient whose gastrointestinal tract was also affected, proving it to be a possible etiology for acute abdominal inflammation. Key-words: testicular neoplasms, seminoma, acute abdomen.Downloads
