Critical media theorist Douglas Kellner undertakes a remarkable job of contextualizing the postmodern in relation to the modern. According to the North American scholar, the intellectual production of postmodernists is directly related to the particular moment they experienced, especially during the 1960s and 1970s. Jean Baudrillard, the most provocative and extremist philosopher of the time, would prove it. This article intends to reconstruct Kellner's reading of the situation.
